Meet Laleta and Anne

Laleta has been a Good Neighbour for almost two years and works full time, she wanted to give up more of her time for people who need it.

“I initially just started doing Ann’s shopping and dropping it off, but now I put the shopping away have a little chat and generally just being there as a good neighbour should.”

“Volunteering gives me perspective; it makes me realise how lucky I am. I enjoy giving something back. We have got to know each other, and she is my friend.”

Anne was in hospital a few times after falling at home, this really affected her mobility. Food shopping was a problem, and it was difficult for her.  Ann is a big reader and Laleta helps her to find books she wants to read.

“Laleta does a very good job helping me and I trust her to help me find things that I can’t get to because of my mobility. Laleta knows what food I like, and I don’t even need to make her a list anymore, she is so helpful.”
